- The past two weekends have seen some awesome GNC racing action,
and Cannondale ATV owners are slowly but steadily making their mark
in these events.
The recent Cannondale ATV Nationals in Orrville, Ohio saw three
days of great racing and large, enthusiastic crowds enjoying the
action under beautiful blue skies. Friday was highlighted by the
Short Track National Championships, in which Nate Leverenz of Rose
Hill, Kansas, took second in the 4-stroke A/B class. It was Nate’s
first race on a Cannondale and, incredibly, his first short-track
competition!
Saturday’s and Sunday’s Orrville TT event comprised the ninth round
of the 2001 GNC Series, and saw Rob Stier win his qualifier on a
Cannondale and then take a very respectable 14th in the main event
of the crowded and competitive Pro-Am 4-stroke class. Steve Spiering
of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, finished 10th in the 250 C class main event
aboard his Cannibal, after taking fourth in his qualifier.
This past weekend’s Pine Lake GNC event saw more Cannondale racing
action. In the 4-stroke A class, in just his second race aboard
a Cannondale, Nate Leverenz was second in the qualifier and fifth
in the main event. In the 4-stroke B class, Jason Rich rode a Cannondale
in his first-ever ATV race. Posting top speeds of over 70 mph, Jason
won his qualifier and posted the day’s fastest qualifying time in
his class. Jason went on to finish sixth in the main event, an incredible
display for this rookie rider.
